Almeda SarroccoNovember 30, 2017
Almeda Sarrocco, 98, passed away on November 30, 2017. She was valedictorian of her high school class. She received a scholarship to attend Kent State University, but could not use it as it did not cover room and board. She attended secretarial school and became a secretary to the President at Oak Rubber Co. in Ravenna and later was a secretary at Lamb Electric Co. in Kent.
Almeda was preceded in death by her parents; Daniel and Edith; husband, Nick; daughter, Nicki Ann; and sisters, Florence and Mazella. She was a sixth cousin to Mamie Doud Eisenhower and a relative to the Packard family of Packard Automobiles. She is survived by her daughters, Juleen Colombo and Pam (Art) Winterfeld; son, Rob Sarrocco (Angie Burrows); grandsons, Derek Pope and Kevin Winterfeld; many nieces and nephews.
Her ancestors came over on the Mayflower and she was eligible to join many historical groups. She belonged to the Old Northwest-Aaron Olmsted Chapter of the D.A.R. (Daughters of the American Revolution). She was a former member of Coventry A.A.R.P. where she worked at the Ways and Means table for many years.
Almeda sang in the Ravenna Methodist choir and later on in the Manchester United Methodist Church choir with her special friends, Sandra Moody, Carol Coomer, and Betty Seely.
Friends may call on Monday, December 4, 2017 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Bacher Funeral Home, 3326 Manchester Rd. Akron, where services will be held on Tuesday, December 5, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. Pastor Dale Gharky officiating. Her burial will be at Grandview Memorial Park and Cremation Garden at 5400 Lakewood Rd., Ravenna Twp. In lieu of flowers, please send financial contributions to Manchester Methodist Church, 5625 Manchester Rd., New Franklin, OH 44319.
