Dan ParsonsSeptember 14, 1946 ~ March 11, 2017 (age 70)
Daniel R. Parsons, 70, passed away March 11, 2017 at the Cleveland VA Hospital from a short fight against cancer and other complications. Per his wishes, he has been cremated.
He was born on September 14, 1946 in West Virginia, but lived most of his life in the Akron/Portage Lakes area. Dan was a graduate of Kenmore High School and went on to receive his associate degree from the University of Akron. He bravely served our country in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War where he was a “river rat.” He was a member of the NRA, American Legion and the VFW. He always flew the American flag and the MIA/POW flag and supported all veterans causes. Over the years, he was a bartender, a tire builder for General Tire, then a salesman at Tri-City Nissan, which he really enjoyed.
Dan was preceded in death by his dad, Roy Parsons. He is survived by his young son Zak; parents, Devona “Bonnie” and Norman Langworthy; sister, Teri Parsons; several cousins, and an aunt and uncle.
Dan had a special liking for Harley-Davidson motorcycles and exotic cars and trucks of any kind. When he was able, he enjoyed golfing, bowling, and pool. He also liked playing cards, solving crossword puzzles, and watching TV. He was an avid Cleveland sports fan (also the Buckeyes).
Dan especially enjoyed spending time with his son and eating and joking with family and friends. We will greatly miss our daily chats and visits with him as he was always a jolly, witty, and caring person to be with.
Friends may call at Bacher Funeral Home 3326 Manchester Rd. on Tuesday, March 21, 2017 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. with a Celebration of Life service at 11:00 a.m., Rev. Gary Smith officiating. Inurnment at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
