Jacqueline A. "Jackie" ChapmanAugust 30, 2017
Jacqueline A. “Jackie” Chapman, 85, passed away on August 30, 2017. She was born in Akron, Ohio, on November 20, 1931, to Paul and Annie Brown. She retired from Akron Auto Auction after 43 years of service as their office manager, retiring in 2009. In high school, Jackie was a cheerleader at Coventry, and her school spirit and dedication for the Coventry Comets continued throughout her lifetime. She was heavily involved with the school district throughout the years, affiliated with the Booster Club, PTA Past Presidents, Scholarship Committee, Alumni Association, and School Levy Committee.
Jackie’s greatest passions were tap dancing and traveling with her husband, Bill. She began tap dancing at age 3 and continued to dance well into her 70s. Jackie and Bill made frequent trips to Las Vegas over the years and enjoyed many exotic cruises, including one through the Panama Canal.
Jackie was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 65 years, Bill; sister, Alice (John) Miller. She is survived by her sons, Bill (Tina) Chapman and Guy Chapman; daughter, Cindy (Randy) McEuen; grandchildren, Guy (Allyson) Chapman, Shane (Jessie) Chapman, Julianne (David) Peteya, Tiffany (Joe) Reed, Brad Houston, Christopher (Kelly) Chapman, and JJ Chapman; great-grandchildren, Rebecca, Carra, Waylon, Kayla, AJ, and Destiny.
Jackie’s family wishes to thank all of the wonderful, caring people from Summa Hospice and Heidi from Alternative Solutions Adult Daycare.
Jackie’s family and those close to her will always remember her beautiful blue eyes peaking above her tea cup.
Friends may call at Bacher Funeral Home, 3326 Manchester Rd. on Wednesday, September 6, 2017 from 4 to 7 p.m., where services will be held on Thursday at 10:30 a.m., Pastor Gary Smith officiating. Inurnment at Greenlawn Memorial Park. Those wishing to make a donation may do so in her name to Coventry School Foundation and mail to 2910 S. Main St., Akron, OH 44319.
