John Cavill Raines Sr., age 82 of Copley TWP, passed away on April 14, 2018 after a long battle with cancer. He was born April 7, 1936 in Cleveland, OH to the late Ralph and Mary Raines. John worked in the grocery business for over 35 years and worked his way up to management at Loblaws, Sparkle and Del Farms. He later worked in the heating and air-conditioning business and retired from East Ohio Heating with over 20 years of service.
He enjoyed hunting, boating, fishing and waterskiing, especially at Lake Cumberland, KY. He was at one time heavily involved with the Boy Scouts and will be remembered as a wonderful husband, father, grandfather uncle, brother-in-law, etc. to his family and a handyman / craftsman, building his own family home.
He is survived by his loving wife of over 60 years, Donna; children, John Raines Jr., Donald (Ann) Raines, Rhonda Raines, Michael Raines, and David Raines; grandchildren, Logan and Nicholas; extended family grandchildren and great grandchildren, Lori (Phil) Hochstetler and her children, Lauren, Nicole, Connor and Lauren’s children, Jacob, Lilly and Jennifer; sister-in-laws and brother-in-laws, Dolly and George Miller, Virginia and Harmon Harrison, Melva and Bill Stone, Doug and Sandy Maxwell, Michael and Connie Maxwell, Roger and Sharon Sanders, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
The family will receive friends at Bacher Funeral Home, 3250 Greenwich Rd., Norton, OH 44203 on Saturday, April 21, 2018 from 12 to 3 p.m., where a Memorial Service will be held immediately following at 3 p.m.
