Darlene Stockdale (née Holcomb), better known as Dusty, passed away November 20th peacefully but unexpectedly in the home she shared with her husband, Dan and cat, Lilly in Barberton, Ohio. She was 66.
If asked, there are many beautiful ways those who loved her would describe Dusty, but ever the planner, she penned the words by which she wanted the world to remember her. If you knew and loved Dusty, it's easy to hear her voice as you read them.
A small town country girl who loved God and nature.
Enjoying a walk in the woods. Watching a sunset with her family. Winter walks in the evergreens. Building a fire and roasting hot dogs. A sled ride with her children. These were her favorite memories.
Family was her number one priority, giving her all to love and encourage. She loved to cook healthy meals for her family and watch them enjoy. Her dreams were that her children would give their lives to Jesus and walk with Him and be in His protective love and grace.
She also loved caring for the less fortunate at CFC as a Support Specialist. She enjoyed being accepted and loved unconditionally by all the sweet hearts that were grateful for her time with them.
Dusty frequently spoke of how joyfully she anticipated one day meeting her Heavenly Father. Although by our timing, her arrival in heaven seems to have come too soon, we find great comfort knowing she is now rejoicing in heaven with those she loved who preceded her in death, especially her biological mom, Shirley who passed when she was six, and step-mom, Janie, both dearly beloved by her.
Dusty is survived by her husband, Dan Stockdale, two children, Emily (Jaclyn) Schlaudecker-Kopalek and Aaron (Megan) Schlaudecker, three step-children, Mary (Ryan) Miller, Michelle (John) VanHyning, and Jonathan (Sara) Stockdale, five grandchildren, Lainey, Brooke, Brayden, Blakely, and Madeline, her brother John (Brenda) Holcomb Jr., niece Alyssa Nguyen (Pascal), nephew Josh (Tara) Holcomb, and many friends she considered to be family.
A private graveside service will be held at North Richmond Cemetery in Cambridge Springs with a memorial being planned at a later date when everyone who loved Dusty can safely gather together to celebrate her life.
